Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to leave for Juventus in loan deal

Vicario has lost No 1 slot at Spurs to Antonin KinskyMove could become permanent for £8.6m next yearJuventus have agreed a deal with Tottenham for Guglielmo Vicario to join on an initial loan after the Italian side decided against a move for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez.Vicario is set to leave Spurs having lost his place as Roberto De Zerbi’s No 1 to Antonin Kinsky, with the agreement with Juventus containing an option to make the Italy goalkeeper’s move permanent next year for £8.6m. Martínez had been linked with the Turin club after Villa agreed a deal to sign Parma’s Zion Suzuki for around £30m but Juventus saw a €10m offer rejected over the weekend and decided to switch their attention elsewhere. The Argentina goalkeeper is currently sidelined due to a finger injury.Vicario moved to north London in 2023 for £17.2m and has made almost 120 appearances since then. With De Zerbi having also brought in Martin Dubravka on a free transfer as cover for Kinsky, the 29-year-old will become the latest player to leave Spurs this summer after Cristian Romero, Djed Spence, Will Lankshear and Yves Bissouma. Pape Matar Sarr is also wanted by Everton and Nottingham Forest. The Senegal midfielder is valued at £30m.Spurs have already spent more than £200m on six new players in this transfer window and are keen on signing Savinho from Manchester City. The Brazil forward was not part of Enzo Maresca’s squad for the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal in Cardiff and is thought to be open to the move. Spurs have also been heavily linked with a move for Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo as De Zerbi seeks to strengthen his attack.

Football transfer rumours: Manchester City to move for Alexis Mac Allister?

Football transfer rumours: Manchester City to move for Alexis Mac Allister?

After looking a tad silly in the Community Shield loss to Arsenal, with not having a midfield being one problem for Enzo Maresca and the further blow of Rodri’s departure getting closer, Manchester City really need some new blood. A surprise name linked to them is Alexis Mac Allister of Liverpool, who may receive a bid in the coming days as City aim to ready themselves for the Premier League season.Ibrahim Mbaye has been linked with every club around, so it should come as no shock that Manchester United have held talks over signing the Paris Saint-Germain winger, who was left out of the matchday squad for the French Super Cup on Sunday. There will be a bit of movement in and out of the defence at Leeds, with Nico Elvedi joining fromBorussia Mönchengladbach, while Sebastiaan Bornauw heads to Hamburg on loan. Another player departing Elland Road is the goalkeeper Lucas Perri who has agreed to sign for Torino on an initial loan with the option to stay un Italy permanently.West Ham had earmarked Troy Parrott as a potential striking option but AZ Alkmaar are not too keen on selling the Republic of Ireland international for less than £21m. Nuno Espírito Santo is having to look elsewhere and Joel Piroe of Leeds has crept up the shortlist. The Hammers looked blunt in front of goal on Sunday against Burnley so may be required to pay up. Leeds would like the forward to go permanently but could accept a loan if push comes to shove.Coventry are targeting goals: with Taiwo Awoniyi signed up, they are set to complete a move for Fenerbahçe striker Sidiki Cherif for £20.5m. The talented teenager started his career with Angers before heading to Turkey on loan. He only signed permanently this summer but Fener are happy to make a quick profit. Frank Lampard may return to former club Chelsea to bolster his defensive ranks by acquiring Josh Acheampong, with the Sky Blues contemplating a temporary or permanent move for the full-back.Chelsea need to clear a few fringe players from the books over the next fortnight. Another person potentially not of use to Xabi Alonso is the centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, who is wanted by Marseille. Benfica have also made an enquiry.Ethan Nwaneri’s absence from the Arsenal squad in Cardiff on Sunday was duly noted. Milan are favourites to give the midfielder a new home. The 19-year-old did not pull up any trees during a loan spell with Marseille but his creative talents may be better suited abroad, it would seem. One man heading out of Milan is Christopher Nkunku. He is not wanted at the San Siro, which could open the door for Newcastle to snap him up. The Premier League side could face competition from Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. An opening offer from Fulham for Atalanta’s Raoul Bellanova has been rejected. Supposedly €20m was the figure in question for the right-back, who also has interest from elsewhere.

Rodri set to complete Barcelona move after Manchester City accept £65.4m bid

30-year-old said to favour a move back to SpainMaresca chasing Lille’s Bouaddi as replacementRodri looks set to complete a move to Barcelona after Manchester City accepted a bid of £65.4m from the Spanish club. The 30-year-old World Cup winner had entered the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium and made it clear he would like the opportunity to move to Barcelona. City, who are now closing in on a deal to sign Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, were reluctant sellers but had little choice with the Spanish international out of contract next summer.City had already rejected Barcelona’s bid of around €60m (£51m) for Rodri last week after an initial offer of €45m (£38.5m) but have now accepted the latest bid.Speaking after City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat by Arsenal on Sunday, Enzo Maresca called Rodri a “top player” and said “all the teams need Rodri”, but City have been unable to persuade their linchpin to stay and sign a new contract. Rodri had only returned to the club on Friday, having undergone back surgery after the World Cup, with Maresca saying he had given him a “big hug” when he first met up with him.Rodri has spent seven seasons with City, winning the Premier League four times and scoring the only goal when they beat Inter in the 2023 Champions League final. The following year he won the Ballon d’Or but, by the time he was presented with the trophy, he was sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament which ruled him out of most of the 2024-25 campaign, while hamstring and groin problems limited him to 33 appearances in Pep Guardiola’s final campaign in charge.City have already undergone major changes in midfield this summer, spending £116m on Elliot Anderson, while agreeing a deal to sell Tijjani Reijnders to Al Qadsiah. They are now ready to seal a move for the Morocco star Bouaddi. The teenager impressed at the World Cup and Lille had initially wanted any potential move to include a 12-month loan deal back to the French side. However, with City losing Bernardo Silva and now Rodri, Maresca is keen to bulk up his midfield options for the new campaign and want Bouaddi available for this season. City have also been linked with Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández and retain an interest.

Enzo Maresca says Manchester City will not meet Chelsea’s deadline for Fernández

Chelsea set 5pm Friday deadline for bids for midfielderMaresca: ‘I don’t think we’re going to do something today’Enzo Maresca is expecting a busy end to the transfer window but says Manchester City will not meet Chelsea’s 5pm Friday deadline to sign Enzo Fernández.Maresca takes charge of City for the first time in a competitive match on Sunday against Arsenal in Cardiff but is a long way from finalising the squad he will have for the season. City are closing to signing the 18-year-old Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, while Chelsea’s Fernández, who worked with Maresca at Stamford Bridge, is of interest but would cost £120m. The Blues set a 5pm cut-off point on Friday to reach their valuation or not bother.“Not today to be honest, I don’t think we’re going to do something today,” Maresca said. “For sure there are things we need to do, how many I don’t know, can be one can be two depends also if players want to leave so we can see. It’s 48 hours for the final, my first final in this club, I would like to win my first trophy, so my focus isn’t on players that can leave or players that can arrive, my focus is on the game.”The club have rejected two bids from Barcelona for Rodri and are expected to sell Tijjani Reijnders in the coming days.Rodri, who has a year remaining on his contract, returned to the club on Friday after his holiday following the culmination of a triumphant World Cup but Maresca would not be drawn on the midfielder’s immediate future, with a third Barcelona offer anticipated.“The transfer window is open, we can buy players, we can sell players, anything can happen. I just saw Rodri now in the building, I gave him a big hug, he looks good, so we’ll see what happens.”Reijnders is set to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah after the two clubs agreed a £51m fee for the Dutchman, who moved to City last summer from Milan but wants more regular playing time.“They all work every day, they all do sessions every day and at the end of the week they all want to play a game,” Maresca said. “When they don’t play, they struggle to understand or they struggle to see the reason why and I can understand that after one season some of them would like to play a little bit more. It’s a normal situation.”James Trafford has already been sold to Leeds, while Omar Marmoush, Rico Lewis and Savinho are others who spent much of Pep Guardiola’s final season on the periphery and could be sold.

Arsenal open talks with Bayer Leverkusen over deal for Jarell Quansah

Gunners remain interested in Aston Villa’s Ezri KonsaArsenal have opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a move for Jarell Quansah as they intensify efforts to bring in cover for William Saliba and Jurriën Timber. The England defender, who left Liverpool last summer for an initial £30m and was part of Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad, has been identified as an ideal replacement for the France and Netherlands defenders, who will miss the start of the new season due to injury. While Quansah’s preferred position is in central defence, he was also deployed at right-back by Tuchel at the World Cup and was sent off in the last-16 victory over Mexico. It is understood that Leverkusen are reluctant to sell the 23-year-old, who signed a five-year deal when he left Anfield last July, and would want at least €50m (£43m). Arsenal – who saw a bid of £30m for Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa rejected earlier in the window – are not thought to want to pay that much but now could test the German club’s resolve by submitting a similar offer. Liverpool had a €70m buyback option on Quansah but that has now expired.Arsenal are still believed to be interested in Konsa, who also filled in at right-back for England during the World Cup but is better known as a central defender. Villa value the 28-year-old at £60m.Mikel Arteta said this week that Saliba’s back injury would take “some time to heal” and he was unsure about when he would be available again. Arsenal also have concerns over Timber, who pulled out of the Netherlands squad on the eve of the World Cup after failing to recover from a persistent groin injury that forced him to miss most of the run‑in last season.“Jurriën is progressing really well,” Arteta said after Arsenal’s friendly defeat by Borussia Dortmund last weekend. “He’s on the pitch, he’s doing quite a lot right now, but it’s still weeks away. I cannot tell you how much.”Arsenal would still like to sign a new attacker before the end of the window and could allow Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus to depart in order to free up more funds. Galatasaray have offered £38m for Martinelli, although the Brazil forward is not thought to be keen on a move to Turkey. Napoli have shown an interest in Jesus.Ethan Nwaneri could also be sold, with Milan, Fulham, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund among those who have been linked with the 19-year-old.The future of Myles Lewis-Skelly is unclear after he was offered to Chelsea and Manchester United this week. Arteta refused to address the rumours after he scored in the friendly against Como – managed by Cesc Fábregas – on Wednesday. “I’m not going to talk about speculation,” he said. “If there is speculation about our players, it’s a good sign. That means our players attract attention and are doing a good job.”

Football transfer rumours: Arsenal offered Osimhen in exchange deal? Newcastle to make Baleba bid?

Football transfer rumours: Arsenal offered Osimhen in exchange deal? Newcastle to make Baleba bid?

As these glorious pages reported on Thursday, Galatasaray wanted Gabriel Martinelli. In the following 24 hours things changed a bit, creating greater complexity, something we do not approve of. Arsenal have supposedly been offered the chance to involve the Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen in exchange for the Brazilian, which could be temptong for a side looking for a new No 9. To further sweeten any potential, Ethan Nwaneri could be chucked into it too to make it a mega swap.Tijjani Reijnders may struggle to find a perfect role within Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City. The Dutchman has already been linked with Nottingham Forest, which has stirred some interest in Saudi Arabia from Al Qadsiah, who are managed by Brendan Rodgers and are willing to cough up £51m for the midfielder.Newcastle are also searching for a central midfielder after losing Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães to Spurs and Arsenal. They did at least get around £175m for the pair, so are eyeing up a deal for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba. Rafik Belghali could head to St James’ Park if the Magpies are willing to stump up £12m for the right back.Leeds are trying to progress a move for Nico Elvedi from Borussia Mönchengladbach, where the centre-back played under Daniel Farke. The 29-year-old wants out and only has a year remaining on his current contract, so will almost certainly end up at Elland Road. There is very little like the signing of a third-choice goalkeeper to get fans excited. Nottingham Forest are giving their people what they want by bringing in the former Swansea stopper Steven Benda for nothing. One assumes he will be met at East Midlands Airport by thousands of excited supporters eager to welcome their new hero.Down at Crystal Palace, getting greater strength in depth is part of the plan. Anan Khalaili is set to help out with that by joining from Union Saint-Gilloise to provide competition for Daniel Munoz at right-back. Palace could be involved in a battle royale for the services of Lecce centre-back Tiago Gabriel, who is valued at £25m. Bournemouth are also tracking the defenders who was previously the subject of a bid from Benfica. It transpires that Wilfried Zaha is out of work so is back training at Crystal Palace to keep fit. Would he be worth a punt for the Eagles? He came through the ranks at Selhurst Park and returned for a second spell after things did not work out at Manchester United.Hull are the sources of relentless rumours currently and the latest comes in the form of Real Betis man Pablo García. The winger is wanted by numerous teams but the Premier League has plenty of allure. The Tigers are also in the market for a central midfielder and have sent a £15m to Everton for Tim Iroegbunam.
